'Rail Going Crane' at the Great Western Society at Didcot.
The crane, which is from the 1940s/1950s was fitted with a very old Perkins engine, which we have replaced with a latest generation, Perkins engine.

It now complies with all emission specification going forward and we have also re-wired the unit with a shut down facility in case of any future problems occurring with the engine. The old engine powered a fluid flywheel prior to the gearbox so it was quite a challenge marrying all of this to the new engine. However, we successfully completed this and fully tested and serviced it prior to fitting it into the crane.
